How to apply

Recent years have seen ZCT mark the beginning of a more sustainable form of local grant-making, with multi-year funding charity partnerships now established by our key locations. This is in direct response to a request from our charity partners for ongoing dependable funding.

Through these partnerships we work hard to create and develop strong relationships in the local communities close to Zurich's offices across the country.

In addition to these multi-year partnerships, certain office locations do have additional funds to award to deserving causes.

These funds are usually awarded in the form of one-off small grants to community and voluntary organisations close to Zurich’s offices.

Locations welcoming applications

There are Local Grant programmes around Birmingham, Fareham, Farnborough, Gloucestershire, Glasgow, Leeds and Swindon for which we welcome grant applications.

Grants tend to range from £100-£5,000 (depending on location) and help improve the quality of life for disadvantaged people. We fund a range of issues including supporting carers, special needs children and young people, older people, those with disabilities, counselling and homeless people.

We are also open to funding specific running costs such as salaries, purchases or project costs.

Find out more below about the application process and timelines for these locations.

Other locations

Zurich offices in Brighton, Croydon, London and Manchester also have multi-year funding arrangements in place with local charities. However, in these locations, our local grant budgets are fully allocated until 2020, which means we are not accepting any further grant applications. Click below to see who their local partners are and, of course, do get in touch if you are looking for any volunteering support. We may be able to help!

Brighton

Sussex Sailability, one of our local partners, has used our support to invest in new hoist equipment which means wheelchair users can safely get in and out of a sailing boat. "This has even allowed our disabled sailors to get the competitive bug by taking part in and winning regattas at a national level. Just because you use a wheelchair, doesn't mean you don't like to win!" Chris Hodge, Sailability

Brighton local partners

Zurich employees in Brighton voted for the three following charities to be our local partners - sharing funds of £10,000 a year, all three will remain our local partners for Brighton until 2020:

Sussex Sailability in Shoreham near Brighton provides sailing opportunities for disabled sailors.

Chailey Heritage Foundation supports children and young people with complex physical disabilities and health needs.

You Raise Me Up offers emotional support to families who have lost a young adult between the ages of 16 & 25.

The Brighton Local Grant programme is therefore not open to further grant applications at this time.

Looking for volunteers? We may be able to help!

We run a number of programmes to enable Zurich employees to share their time and/or business skills with their local community. All bring tremendous benefits to the voluntary organisations and the people they work with. We may be able to help you too! Listed below are some of the things we do:

Annual Challenge - mainly practical one-off projects, which teams of staff can take up. For example, decorating, DIY, day trips or gardening.

Skillshare - short term projects, taking typically 10 hours, and where staff share their business skills in areas such as marketing, HR, finance and IT.

Need another pair of hands? If you're looking for one-off support - eg acting as a marshall at a running event or manning  a stall - get in touch. We're sometimes able to find just the right person.

Contact Kerry Chambers on 07841 562892 or email kerry.chambers@zct.org.uk for any help with volunteering support.
