The Soup Kitchen at The American International Church, one of our local London charity partners, feeds and clothes the homeless, vulnerable, elderly and lonely in Central London, by providing a safe and warm environment where all are welcome. They average approximately 90 guests per day and their doors are open six days per week.
"We are genuinely so appreciative to have ZCT’s support and we absolutely could not feed, clothe and help so many disadvantaged people without you!" Alex Brown, Soup Kitchen
London local partners
Zurich employees in London voted for the following charities to be our local partners - sharing funds of £90,000 a year, they will remain our local partners for London until 2020:
Mind in Haringey, offering one to one counselling support to ex-armed forces men and women in need, in both the local community and other areas of North London.
The Diana Award, enabling their Anti-Bullying Ambassadors Programme to provide a range of activities including training 1,000 children and young people to become Ambassadors themselves, including those who have been victims, perpetrators or bystanders in bullying attacks.
Ashford Place Dementia Cafe, covering the costs of a dance teacher and gentle exercise teacher to support those with dementia and their carers.
KEEN London, supporting the costs of venue hire and sports equipment for free sports and activity sessions for children and young people with additional needs or disabilities.
The Soup Kitchen, to help upgrade facilities so the homeless, elderly and lonely of Central London to receive the support they need.
Immediate Theatre, to fund drama workshops for disadvantaged 5-13 year olds, with a hot meal and support for parents, in Hackney.
The London Local Grant programme is therefore not open to further grant applications at this time.
Looking for volunteers? We may be able to help!
We run a number of programmes to enable Zurich employees to share their time and/or business skills with their local community. All bring tremendous benefits to the voluntary organisations and the people they work with. We may be able to help you too!
Listed below are some of the things we do. Contact us if your organisation is in London and has something that needs doing under one of these headings:
Annual Challenge - mainly practical one-off projects, which teams of staff can take up. For example, decorating, DIY, day trips or gardening.
Skillshare - short term projects, taking typically 10 hours, and where staff share their business skills in areas such as marketing, HR, finance and IT.
Need another pair of hands? If you're looking for one-off support - eg acting as a marshall at a running event or manning a stall - get in touch. We're sometimes able to find just the right person.
Please contact Lisa Walsh, Zurich Cares Programme Manager (Interim), either by telephoning 07875 885168 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and we may be able to help.
