CHEL1F Food and Festive Fayre

The Challenge

FC Father xmas Cheltenham Open Door would really appreciate it if a team could provide around 20 festive parcels filled with items of food and festive fayre. Food parcels are part of the work they do, and they'd welcome any support in generating food donations during their busiest time of the year. In particular, they would like items that are non-perishable and can be cooked using a kettle or a microwave. It would be lovely if these festive parcels could also include some small luxuries, such as a box of chocolates, or a small gift that many of us take for granted. The charity can help by providing you with a list of suggested items, then it's over to you and the team to get buying and packing!

Cheltenham Open Door

Cheltenham Open Door supports vulnerable, disadvantaged and lonely people. They aim to relieve poverty, hardship, and social or emotional distress. Their guests are men and women who have been deprived of the comforts and security most of us take for granted, and they offer them hospitality, warmth, food, and somewhere to relax. The people who come through their doors come from all walks of life.

CHEL7F A Festive Evening of Fun and Support!

The Challenge

Ginger bread men

13- to 24-year-old males only make up around 30% of the younger people that attend counselling through Teens in Crisis and the charity is keen to address this within their 'levelling up' project. The charity would like the help of a small team to organise one of six weekday evening events, designed to get young boys and men to engage in counselling. It will allow the charity to find out from them, first-hand, what 'support' really looks like. The charity will help you choose a suitable activity and would love if the team could also lay on food and drinks too. It would be helpful if three or four people from the team could come along to help with the event and, given the nature of the project, it would be great if there were a couple of male helpers within the team.

TIC+ (Teens In Crisis)

TIC+ provides counselling and support for young people struggling with poor mental health. Their service is free for the young person and their family, meaning that it is inclusive for all, the counselling takes place at a convenient location for the young person, again ensuring there's no barriers of traveling to a certain location/town for them to get support.

The Challenge

Winston's Wish would love for a team to help them make memories by buying items for the memory packages that they distribute to the young people they support. They can guide you as to what items to buy, but would also appreciate it if your team could make up a supply of these, ready for them to distribute. There's also the possibility for your team to attend one of their activity days if you'd like to. This additional extra can be discussed with the charity.

Winston's Wish

Winston's Wish is the first childhood bereavement charity that supports young people up to the age of 25, when their lives have been turned upside down by grief. They provide a variety of services through their helpline, on demand email and messaging services, 1:1 counselling, bereavement support and peer group therapy.
