Our ZCT elves have been super busy sourcing a sack load of projects for you and your teams to pick from! Whether sprinkling trees with tinsel, wrapping presents with ribbon, or spreading joy with a jolly party - we have lots of ways you can make it a tree-mendous Christmas in your community!   

With a mixture of virtual and face-to-face
 projects, and up to £500 provided per challenge, it couldn't be easier!

Beatson Cancer Charity would like a team to purchase a selection of Christmas gifts for approximately 50 of their befriending friends. The charity will help with a gift list and once they've been purchased, wrapped, and tagged, they would appreciate the team dropping the presents off at their office in early December.

GLAS2F  Santa's Helpers Needed 


The Challenge

FC Father xmasBeatson Cancer Charity Wellbeing Centre would like your help in buying approximately 100 small gifts worth £5.00 or less. You'll need to wrap and tag each one, to spread a bit of love to people having to stay in hospital over the Christmas period. The charity would work on a convenient date when the team can attend the Wellbeing Centre at the hospital, so they can distribute the presents to the patients.

GLAS3F  Let's Get Quizzical 


The Challenge

FC Baul baulsCommon Wheel would like a team to create and run a quiz night, which will be held at Campbell House at the Gartnavel Royal Hospital site. They would also like you to provide prizes for the quiz and some buffet food. The event will be for their service users, staff and volunteers. It will be a rare opportunity for everyone to get together and have an enjoyable time. The charity anticipate approximately 60 people may attend and a suitable date can be arranged with the charity.

Common Wheel

Common Wheel supports people managing or recovering from mental illness by providing a range of meaningful activities for them to take part in. They work with small groups of people and engage them in meaningful activities that help them live the best possible life despite their mental health challenges. They aim to reduce isolation, develop new skills, improve mental wellbeing and challenge stigma.

GLAS4F  Veterans Christmas Lunch


The Challenge

Ginger bread menErskine Reid Macewen Activity Centre (ERMAC), based in Bishopton, are planning their festive lunch for their veterans, partners and carers. They are anticipating around 100 people will attend. They would like some help in providing a buffet lunch, serving drinks, buying some festive decorations and possibly organising some entertainment. A date can be arranged with the charity.

Erskine Veterans Charity

Erskine Reid Macewen Activity Centre (ERMAC) is part of the wider Erskine Veterans Charity. The community based activity centre is based in the Erskine Veterans Village, providing social and skills-based meaningful activities for veterans who live in the community. The charity aims to have a safe, therapeutic space for veterans to meet like-minded people and reduce social isolation.

GLAS5F  Supermarket Sweep 


The Challenge

FC Xmas TreeThe FareShare Glasgow and West of Scotland service would like a team of volunteers to help unload the vans that come in from supermarkets, unpack the pallets of food and put together orders for their charity members. There is also the option to help deliver the food out into the community, so you can see first-hand where the food goes to. They would also appreciate any help in buying some new safety clothing for their regular volunteers. A convenient date can be arranged with the charity, but they have suggested this takes place from Monday to Wednesday, as these are their busiest days.

GLAS7F  A Day of Hamperness! 


The Challenge

Ginger bread menGood Morning Service would like some help in making up approximately 50 hampers and accompanying their volunteers in delivering the hampers to the older persons' home on the run up to Christmas, at a convenient date. These hampers give such a boost for their clients with long term health conditions, and it means the world to them to know someone is thinking of them at what can be a very lonely time of year.

Good Morning Service

Good Morning Service provide telephone befriending and alert calls to older people. Every morning, 365 days a year, telephone befrienders call out to members at a pre-arranged time to check that all is well and a good blether. The charity takes an active interest in people and, over time, hope to become a good friend on the phone, someone to share a laugh with or simply be there to listen and give emotional support in difficult times.

FC Xmas TreeThe Challenge

Move On Charity would like a team to provide One4All multi-store gift vouchers for around 30 of their young people, so they can enjoy a meal or an activity and meet with their mentor. This challenge would give the young people and mentors a positive opportunity to engage and would be an ideal way both to connect in a relaxed social environment, during a very difficult time of year for them.

Move On Scotland

Move On Scotland is a mentoring and employability charity, centred around providing opportunities to transform lives. They work chiefly with disadvantaged young people aged 14-25, supporting them to take their next steps to live an independent and fulfilling life.

GLAS9F  Festival Tree of Kindness


The Challenge

FC Xmas party imageSocial Bite are relaunching their Festival of Kindness campaign to help people that are experiencing homelessness and poverty in Glasgow. They would like a team to help provide some Christmas gifts, ranging from toys, clothes, and food. The charity has a wish list they can share with your team. They aim to reach around 50 people from your help alone. All gifts will be centrally put under their Tree of Kindness and will be sent out for distribution during the Christmas period. Although this is a virtual challenge, the charity would very much welcome a team to help them with the distribution of presents at their main site in Glasgow, during this busy time of year.

Social Bite

Social Bites' vision is a society where no-one has to be homeless. They challenge the status quo by pioneering solutions that create lasting change, whether that's by supporting people to find a safe place to call home, empowering people to get a job, or by providing free, fresh food to people who are homeless or in food poverty.

GLAS10F  Festive Hampers 


The Challenge

FC Xmas parcelsYoung Lives vs Cancer would love around 12 to 15 hampers for Marion's House in Glasgow, to support the families at this difficult time. A list can be supplied by the charity of what to include in the hampers.

Young Lives vs Cancer

Young Lives vs Cancer helps babies and young people up to 24 years of age with cancer, as well as supporting their families. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, most families have to travel to their nearest principal treatment centre. In Scotland, this is either Glasgow, Edinburgh or Aberdeen. Close by to the hospital in Glasgow is Marion's House, which offers a "Home from Home" facility for families who are given a place to stay so they can be close to their child receiving treatment for cancer, free of charge for as long as they need.

GLAS11F  Wrappers Needed 


The Challenge

Reindeer imageGlasgow Children's Hospital charity are planning on embarking on a shopping centre takeover by hosting pop up shops in three shopping centres across Glasgow for the month of December - dates tbc with the charity. The shopping centres are Buchanan Galleries, Silverburn and Braehead. They really need some help with offering gift wrapping services in the high footfall shopping centres. The charity would also like you to buy plenty of wrapping paper, bows, string and gift tags. Some selection boxes for the children would be wonderful too! You will be supported by staff from the charity at each location and this challenge can be booked by more than one team.

Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity

Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity aims to be there for every child treated in hospital in the west of Scotland. They raise funds to help those who tirelessly care for, and nurture, young lives at their most vulnerable; to invest in equipment, research and the continued improvement of facilities and services for children and families in hospital.

The Challenge

Ginger bread menHomeless Project Scotland want to provide some new aprons for the volunteers who help serve the food to the homeless. Please contact Judith.Thomas@uk.zurich.com for further details of a local supplier who can help give a discount and that work closely with the charity.

Homeless Project Scotland

Homeless Project Scotland was founded in October 2019. Their purpose is to feed and provide support to homeless and vulnerable people in Scotland. They feed homeless and vulnerable people every day and on average serve around 20,000 hot meals every week. They also act as a trusted voice for the homeless and support them by working alongside partners and supporting people who need help.

GLAS13F  What's In The Pantry? 


The Challenge

FC Xmas TreeGovan HELP would like a team to help run The Govan Pantry for the day shop, which would include being involved in stocking shelves, preparing the pantry for opening, welcoming customers, and supporting customers to shop. They would appreciate it if you could buy some food to put into the pantry - the charity can inform you of what is most needed. The Govan Pantry is open Wednesdays and Thursdays each week from 10.30am - 3.00pm. A convenient date can be arranged with the charity. This challenge can be booked by multiple teams.

Govan Home and Education Link Project (Govan HELP)

Govan HELP is a local Family Support charity providing a range of services for children and families who live in the Govan area of Glasgow. Their services include family support, play therapy, adult counselling, training, and volunteering and the Govan Pantry, which offers support to overcome food insecurity. The service supports families and individuals in the community to make valuable savings on the cost of their weekly basic food and essential items.
