The Challenge

FC Father xmas

Leeds Mind would like a team to support the children, aged 6-18, in their Suicide Bereavement Service who have been affected by the death of a parent, sibling, close family member or friend by suicide. A team is needed to write a letter from Santa and purchase a small gift from him too! Gifts could be chocolate and a small bag of forget-me-not seeds to plant as a family and remember the person they have lost. You will choose a nice paper, envelopes, co-produce the letter with Leeds Mind, print it, get the gifts, put everything in a stamped envelope ready for Leeds Mind to add the address and put in the post. We anticipate the letter would be one side of A4, so children can frame it if they want to.

Leeds Mind

Leeds Mind is an award-winning local charity that supports anyone affected by mental health difficulties in Leeds. Their vision is to provide better mental health for all, and their mission is to enable people with mental health difficulties to flourish.

FC Xmas TreeThe Challenge

The Clothing Bank would love a team to help with collecting pre-loved clothing for all ages. This Christmas, they would also like to give every teenager a nice new pair of pyjamas, so you could use your budget to buy a selection of boys and girls PJs in adult sizes. The Clothing Bank will distribute these to the teenagers in time for Christmas. It will bring a smile to faces, but will also be very practical for keeping them warm this winter.

Festive hamperHampers for Hartlepool FoodCycle Hartlepool runs every Monday evening, for approximately 40 guests each week. The charity would love to be able to make their users' Christmas meal extra special this year. The challenge is for you and your colleagues to create a goody bag full of festive treats and foods, such as chocolate oranges, for each user to take home.  Try using old fabrics or reusable bags, where possible, to reduce waste. As this challenge is located in Hartlepool, please remember to keep some budget back for delivery costs!

LEED6F Shush at the Disco

The Challenge

FC Xmas party imageDementia Forward want to organise a silent disco for their young people with early onset dementia. The disco will provide a social opportunity for people with dementia, and their carers, to attend as music is a brilliant tool for memory and communication. Not everyone may want to join in so with a silent disco people can be enjoying the music and dancing, while others sit and chat. Your job will be to source a hire company and make it happen! Make sure it will be appropriate for the age group - the young people won't want to sit and listen to Vera Lynn! Dementia Forward will source the venue and transport for the attendees.

Dementia Forward

Dementia Forward is an innovative and forward-thinking charity, supporting people living with dementia across North Yorkshire. One of the unique services the organisation offers is a support model for people with young onset dementia. It provides advice and support from pre-diagnosis to end of life, covering everything from information and signposting to face-to-face support, outward bound groups and gatherings for people across the county.

LEED7F   Party People

The Challenge

FC Baul baulsA team is required to arrange a fun festive disco and/or entertainment party for Zest's service users this Christmas. The party will provide them with some light-hearted fun at a time when a lot of them are struggling due to lack of funds, loneliness and social isolation. The impact will be great as some of the users do not have many family members or friends to celebrate and spend time with at this time of year. You will need to arrange music, order food, arrange decorations and work alongside Zest volunteers to make the party a real success - it will be the best party you attend all year!

Zest Health For Life

Zest is an independent non-profit organisation and registered charity that offers support and opportunity to people living in disadvantaged areas of Leeds. The charity aims to address health inequalities and social isolation through activities which improve physical, mental, social, emotional and economic wellbeing.
