 CHEL1     Box Clever!

The Challenge    Lend a hand

Cheltenham Open Door would really appreciate it if a team could provide around 20 of their support boxes, filled with items of food and essentials. Food parcels are part of the work they do, and they would welcome any support in generating food donations at a time of the year when stocks are notoriously low. They need items that are non-perishable, that the recipients can heat using a kettle or a microwave. It would be lovely if these parcels could also include small luxuries, such as chocolates or other sweet treats. The charity can help by providing you with a list of suggested items, then it's over to you and the team to get buying and packing.

Cheltenham Open Door

Cheltenham Open Door supports vulnerable, disadvantaged and lonely people. They aim to relieve poverty, hardship, and social or emotional distress. Their guests are men and women who have been deprived of the comforts and security most of us take for granted and they offer them hospitality, warmth, food, and somewhere to relax. The people who come through their doors come from all walks of life.

 CHEL2    Summer Prize is Right!

The Challenge   Lend a hand

The charity would love three hamper raffle prizes for their summer raffle, which will be drawn at their fete on Saturday 20 July. They are ideally looking for a small, medium, and large prize, with a budget of around £300, and will need to know what the prizes are a few weeks before the event. If your team has extra energy, then you could help with collecting items for some of the stalls or attend on the day, as the charity need around 40 volunteers to make it a success.

James Hopkins Trust

James Hopkins Trust (JHT) provides care and support to Gloucestershire's young children who are life limited or life threatened. Respite is provided night or day, either in the family home or their purpose built respite centre, in Gloucester. The support of their local community and businesses is critical to their ability to be able to support families who desperately need our help.

 CHEL3   Treats2Remember!

The Challenge    Entertainment

Mindsong run Sing2Remember sessions around Gloucestershire that provide an uplifting environment for people living with dementia. They would love your help to upgrade the treats that are available at the sessions, by providing a hamper for each of the seven groups with a lovely selection of goodies. These could include tea bags, coffee, biscuits, cakes, sweets, and other treats that they can enjoy after a lovely sing-along. If any of the team wanted to attend a session, then I'm sure you would be welcome.

Mindsong

Mindsong provide music therapy and community music for those living with dementia at home, in care homes and in local communities across Gloucestershire.

 CHEL4   Strength in Numbers!

The Challenge       Gardening

The charity has an upper parking area which can get very muddy. They need a team to order and spread 7-8 tonnes of 'clean stone' aggregate around the area to make it more accessible all year round. If budget allows, then they would also like six solar lights to help people walking to and from the car park. Can you take on this supersized Challenge? Do you have the strength in the team to make this happen? A local aggregate company called Elliott's have done deals in the past to support the charity. Project photos >

 CHEL5    Triggering Happy Memories!

The Challenge        Virtual project

The charity would like to be able to offer reminiscence boxes for their patients who have dementia, which they would benefit from alongside their palliative diagnosis. You could fill the boxes with items that the patients could touch, look at, and talk about, triggering memories and bringing them comfort. If budget allows, then the charity could also provide the team with ideas for portable sensory items that could be moved to rooms for patients living with dementia. The charity has a specialist team that could help with a list of items for the team that take on this Challenge.

 CHEL6 A Double Transformation!

The Challenge   DIY

The Dean Neurological Centre has two lounges which have existing nature themed murals, but they still feel very clinical, and they need a team with some ideas to make them feel more homely. Ideas could include wipeable tablecloths, cushions, decal stickers for internal and external windows and maybe some new storage to make existing board games more accessible to their visitors. Can you help transform these spaces with a few simple and affordable ideas? Project photos >

The Friends of The Dean

The Dean Neurological Centre is a highly specialised unit which provides care for around 60 adults of all ages, who have experienced a traumatic brain injury, or long-term neurological conditions. Often the centres' residents experience complex physical, cognitive or and/or behavioural problems.

 CHEL9    A Rewarding Challenge!

The Challenge     Virtual project

13 to 24-year-old males only make up around 30% of the younger people that attend counselling through Teens in Crisis and the charity are keen to address this within their 'levelling up' project. The charity would like a small team to provide them with vouchers that they can use to reward the young boys and men they support and that are willing and able to engage in counselling. This would replicate a process from Christmas that proved to be very successful and will be appreciated by everyone at the charity and the people they support.

TIC+ (Teens In Crisis)

TIC+ provides counselling and support for young people struggling with poor mental health. Their service is free for the young person and their family, meaning that it is inclusive for all. The counselling takes place at a convenient location for the young person, ensuring there's no barriers of travelling to a certain location or town for them to get support.
